Client Relationship Manager

A Client Relationship Manager is a customer champion and partner! You will work closely with an assigned block of business and keep them happy so that when their annual renewal occurs, they continue to work with Michigan Planners. In this role, you will maintain a professional working relationship with the key contacts of the block of business assigned to you and successfully partner with them on their employee benefits needs. This role has significant autonomy as you are able to regularly consult and use your expertise to present & analyze data and make recommendations to drive our customers’ businesses. You will work closely with our internal Enrollment, Plan Analyst, Compliance, and Claims teams to ensure updates to their accounts occur in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, assist, and lead client meetings regarding strategic planning for their health insurance needs and renewals.
  • Establish timelines and deliverables needed for internal employee activities (communication, annual calendars, project plans, customer service, etc.) and follow up with them to ensure they are properly serviced.
  • Provide information to the service team regarding each client’s buying style, expectations, problems, concerns, and other relevant information to consistently ensure a high level of service.
  • Set up and communicate renewal timeline to ensure timely execution of client decisions and provided materials.
  • Provide expert guidance to complex situations (claims, enrollment, implementation issues, etc.) with stakeholders being a part of the solution and outcome needed.
  • Conduct open enrollment and new hire meetings, onsite or remote, including creation of PowerPoint presentation materials.
  • Implementation of carrier/vendor changes for various policies.
  • Updating of agency management system with policy changes or renewals, including various aspects of information needed in the system.
  • Verify accuracy of rates within one-month post open enrollment.
  • Adapt to different clients’ needs and wants in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge in and understanding of ERISA compliance, FMLA, COBRA, 5500 filings and HealthCare Reform.
  • Handle high stress situations with clients and maintain focus on overall satisfaction.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years working in Client Services or as an Account Manager, with a minimum of 1-2 years in the health insurance industry strongly preferred.
  • An ownership mentality, contagious energy, and leadership skills that portray confidence in your team members and clients.
  • A passion for providing a white glove level of customer service.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with Salesforce, Benefit Solver, BrokerageBuilder, and/or Employee Navigator software strongly preferred.
  • Top notch ethical standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to successfully work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven background prioritizing and managing multiple projects & client needs simultaneously.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Currently have or able to obtain a State of Michigan Life & Health Insurance License within 6 months of employment.
Medicare Specialist

A Medicare Specialist is a salesperson and consultant. As a Medicare Specialist, you are responsible for providing personal, high-touch service while educating and enabling customers to make a confident, informed decision on their medical coverage. You will write new and referral business through various channels (inbound/outbound calls, walk-ins, webinars, lead lists, etc…) This role has a lot of autonomy as you can quote and suggest plans based on your expertise and knowledge, as well as personalized conversations with prospects and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality customer service while providing education to each policyholder.
  • Quote Medicare Parts C & D, relevant Medicare supplement plans, ancillary benefits and assist with enrollment.
  • Review your clients’ health care plan and help them evaluate their needs against the services and coverage they are eligible to receive.
  • Respond to customer inquiries quickly and effectively to determine their individual needs and educate them on various solutions available through a consultative sales process.
  • Perform necessary follow-up activities with customers to ensure exceptional customer shopping and enrollment experience.
  • Record all required documentation from customer interactions to ensure compliance, including management of CRM system to track Medicare business.
  • Educate and work collaboratively with all Michigan Planners employees to best serve our mutual clients.
  • Provide education and expertise to our employer groups regarding Medicare rules.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • A passion for providing a white glove level of customer service.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
  • CRM system experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Consistently upholds client confidentiality and ensures compliance with data protection standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid State of Michigan Life & Health Insurance License preferred.
Plan Analyst

A Plan Analyst effectively and cooperatively works with colleagues, clients, and carriers to manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, obtain quotes, design solutions, and report on how their plans are performing. You will analyze market quotes to ensure accurate features and benefits are competitive. This role has a lot of autonomy and decision-making capabilities as you can solicit bids from the marketplace, evaluate contracts, and make recommendations to internal MPI employees on what should be offered to our clients based on your knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities
  • Support prospective and current clients’ annual benefit renewals by gathering the information necessary to prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP).
  • Thoroughly research various benefits options for clients based on their needs, submit RFPs to carriers, and answer their questions.
  • Analyze market quotes to ensure accurate features, benefits, and premiums are competitive.
  • Utilize strong, cooperative working relationships to negotiate and optimize benefits and rates.
  • Ensure appropriate consideration of carrier bonus and persistency programs with clients.
  • Collaborate with internal client account teams to develop plan strategy and contribution modeling.
  • Prepare formal presentations for renewals and prospects.
  • Create quarterly claims reporting packages and prepare stewardship reporting as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent work experience.
  • A passion for providing a white glove level of customer service.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs and related compliance requirements.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
  • CRM system, Salesforce, experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
